Welcome to English I! I am excited about this upcoming school year as my class will start the year off using iPads to enrich each student's learning experience. In English I we will:
Writing Pre-Assessment
Yesterday, you told me some things about you! You didn't know it, but this was the first step of what is called the writing process! Yesterday you completed a brainstorming activity by introducing yourself to me.
Today you will use the "My Story: My Life" check sheet and the "Circle Map and Frame" graphic organizer to create an outline and paragraph that describes who you are. Please follow all steps on the check sheet! When you are finished, please turn in your work to Mrs. Starling.
- Understand and apply basic grammar and writing conventions
- Understand, apply, and create narrative, informational, and argumentative writing.
- Analyze and evaluate: drama/nonfiction, world literature, short stories, nonfiction, poetry.
- Analyze and evaluate a novel.
- Analyze and evaluate student selections from independent reading.
- Use information learned to create projects and teach peers.
